Victims of FAS often have slower digestion rates
Small Mouth and Teeth
Along with the other underdeveloped features of an FAS child, the mouth and the teeth are also very small compared to the average individual. These small features slow down the process of digest and egestion. The mouth is the beginning of the digestion process. This is the location of the manual break down of food that has be consumed. The teeth are a very important part of digestion as they grind the food with saliva to make it easier for the stomach to digest. Since children with FAS have a smaller mouth and weaker teeth is takes longer for them to chew and swallow food which prolongs the process of digestion.
